Sitting: catalogue launch and Film screening at IMMA

sitting: a portrait project by nick miller
IMMA and Laois County Council cordially invite you to the catalogue launch of Sitting, a portraiture residency by Nick Miller. Recent recipient of the inaugural Hennessy Portrait Prize, Miller was artist-in-residence in the Laois Arthouse, Stradbally, Co Laois, in July 2014. To be shown alongside the launch will be the screening of Sitting- a short film by Lisa Fingleton, which documents the experience.
Date: Thursday 4th December Time: 1pm(sharp) Location: the Lecture Room, followed by reception in the Johnston Suite, IMMA. Launch by: Christina Kennedy, Senior Curator, head of Collections, IMMA.

Hennessy and the National Gallery of Ireland today announced the 12 finalists chosen for the Hennessy Portrait Prize 2014. Selected by an esteemed panel of judges; which included Dr Declan Long (NCAD), Donald Teskey RHA, Cristín Leach Hughes (The Sunday Times), Janet McLean (NGI), and chaired by the Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Sean Rainbird, the 12 finalists were chosen from more than 400 entries from artists living in Ireland and Irish artists abroad.Read More....

THU MAY 15, 2014, DUBLIN, IRELAND —
XL Group has today announced the list of 18 artists selected to exhibit work at its architecturally significant offices at 8 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
The artists selected range from undergraduate to senior artists and span 22 to 60 years in age. The artists are based in Dublin, Belfast, Galway, Sligo and Clare and include many artists of note; Alice Maher, Nick Miller, Mark Joyce and Garrett Phelan to name a few.
