WATERCOLOURS

WATERCOLOURS: STANDING | SITTING | LYING

In 2005 Miller returned to some large and small scale figure work in watercolour. He continues to use t as a primary medium in which to portray sitters, as well as for preparatory works for oils. It is the most immediate medium available and. Miller uses the medium on occasion with unorthodox thickness in attempts to resolve flesh. In Standing |Sitting | Lying, he focused on three sitters for naked portraits and showed them with a selection of works related to a portrait of a Buddhist Lama, The Venerable Panchen Otrul Rinpoche, who teaches in a retreat in Co Cavan. The portraits were shown alongside more intimate family watercolours of a holiday in France. Essay
